Adopted LDP Site Selection

South Ayrshire Local Development Plan

South Ayrshire Council published its Main Issues Report in May 2010, as part of the work involved with preparing a Local Development Plan for South Ayrshire. In this respect, the Council recently sought submissions from any interested party who wished to promote a potential development site for possible inclusion in the Local Development Plan.

The consultation period for this has now closed; however this process attracted a significant response, with over 130 sites being promoted. These sites have now been mapped and are presented in the following interactive map. Help on using this interactive map is available.

Sites submitted for consideration will not be automatically included in the Local Development Plan, but will be assessed against appropriate technical information and will be subject to widespread engagement with communities and consultation with key parties. At the Main Issues Report stage, and the Planning Forum will be a key consultee in this exercise. Applications for membership of the Planning Forum are still being accepted on the Council website as below.

In addition, as part of the consultation on the Main Issues Report, the Council invited interested parties to influence the way that the sites that are submitted will be taken forward as preferred areas for development. The feedback from this consultation exercise will be used in developing a land-use map and in developing policy options for the Main Issues Report. Feedback from this exercise will also be published on this website; but this has been useful in obtaining the views of the public and development industry in relation to key planning issues for South Ayrshire.
