Please note: Public Access will be unavailable from 8am on the 30th June 2022 Until 2nd July 2022. The Planning & Building Standards online registers and map search facility will therefore not be available during this time. Members of the public will not be able to view or comment on Planning Applications during the downtime

Make a comment

You can view and comment on planning applications online using the Planning online service.

When we receive a valid planning application, members of the public may submit a representation of support or objection to the proposed development. All representations received will be published on the Council’s Planning Portal and will be available for the applicant, elected members and members of the public to view. Therefore please note, should you choose to submit a representation, your name and address will be displayed in the public domain. Further information on how we will process and publish your personal information can be found in our Privacy Policy.

View and comment on planning applications

You have at least 21 days from notification of planning application to comment.

If you wish to submit comments on any application it is recommended that you view the proposal prior to making any submission.

What you can comment on

Comments which are relevant to planning issues are known as material considerations which are the permitted grounds for objection.

How to comment online

You can comment online by:

  1. Clicking on the Make a Comment link on the appropriate Planning Application details screen.
  2. Complete the form and click Submit to register your opinion on an application.

Please provide a formal postal address in order to assist with any future communications.

You must include the following information in your letter or email. Failure to do so may result in your comments not being taken into account.

  • Site address of application
  • Description of proposal
  • Application number (if known)
  • Your name
  • Your address
  • Your comments about the proposal

Your telephone number is not mandatory but is useful to allow us to contact should the Planning Officer need to.

This is to ensure that all comments made are neither offensive or libellous and that their publication also complies with the Data Protection Act. Due the volume of casework and representations received there can be delays between the Council receiving your comment and it being published on the Council’s website.
