Well done Hannah

Well done Hannah

One of our Modern Apprentices is one of only three finalists in the 2020 Scottish Apprenticeship Awards!

Hannah Spence now has a great opportunity to scoop this prestigious award, which would be the culmination of all her hard work since she became a Modern Apprentice back in 2019.

When Hannah joined the Council, she was given the important task of helping Home Carers adapt to a new system, enabling them to access client information through mobile devices.

When the COVID-19 pandemic hit the role of Home Carers became even more vital, and Hannah went above and beyond to ensure they knew how to use the system.

Hannah has come on leaps and bounds and now not only does she provide training on the system, she has even developed a step by step user guide which has been issued to all staff in the service!

Hannah completed her Modern Apprenticeship and was successful in gaining a full-time clerical position. She also achieved her SCQF Level 5 in Business Administration, and has put herself forward to study a SCQF 6 in Business Administration.

Hannah has far exceeded all expectations, despite the challenges the past year has brought.

Hannah said: "The Modern Apprenticeship has benefitted me in so many ways. It has built my confidence, and allowed me to develop new skills as well as gain qualifications.

"I was over the moon with my nomination, so when I found out that I was one of only three finalists, it was an even bigger shock. I would like to thank everyone I work with for all their support."

Councillor William Grant, Children and Young People Portfolio Holder for South Ayrshire Council said: "Well done Hannah! Despite the problems that the pandemic has brought to the working environment, Hannah has adapted so well and become an integral part of the team. She is not only an example to other apprentices, but to all of us. Good luck for the finals!"

An online ceremony will take place on Thursday 4 March when the winner will be announced.
